Susannah Ramshaw is the Associate Director of Designmatters, where her role includes developing and leading new strategic programming to support the curricular expansion of the Designmatters Concentration across undergraduate disciplines. Susannah comes to ArtCenter having previously held artistic and educational programming positions at a number of prestigious cultural institutions including the Colburn School of Music, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, and the Chicago Architecture Foundation.
In previous work, Susannah developed experiential learning programs for college-level music students, including educational interactive performances and practical pedagogical training. Additionally, she aided in the piloting of numerous music programs, including an online-learning platform for elementary school teachers and students in the Los Angeles Unified School District, as well as a music therapy program, based in choral singing, for communities on Skid Row.
As a classically-trained trumpet player, Susannah performs regularly with ensembles in and around Los Angeles, and has performed nationally at the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts and Carnegie Hall. She received a Bachelor’s of Music from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria.
