Media Design Practices Announces 2015-16 Adjunct Thesis Advisors

The most adventurous creatives from across L.A. join us in the Wind Tunnel, hailing from worksites that include: Nigeria, Mars, the U.N., and the Future.

This year’s Adjunct Thesis Advisors, from L to R:

Jesse Kriss is Senior Lead Design at NASA JPL, developing tools for space mission operations, spacecraft systems engineering, and Earth science, while practicing and promoting user centered design.

Chelina Odbert is Co-founder and Executive Director of Kounkuey Design Initiative where she designs productive public spaces through a community-based process.

Mike Milley is Creative Director at BMW Designworks where he is responsible for driving innovation through compelling visions of the near future.

Alan Koch is an architect whose projects range from artworks to art museums to digital engagement platforms. He is currently the Design Director of Otto Design Group.

David Leonard is an artist and news correspondent.

Claire L. Evans is Futures Editor at Motherboard, lead singer of pop duo YACHT, and co-founder of the free mobile app 5 Every Day.

Casey Anderson is an artist working with sound across media, including composition, improvisation, electronic music, saxophone, text, and installations, and runs the MDP’s Making Lab.

Richard Wheeler is a designer and artist who investigates locations, tools, methods, and cultures of observing, representing, and interacting with the world around us.

Norman Klein is a critic, urban and media historian, and novelist, and most recently author of The imaginary20thcentury.

Mariana Amatullo is a leader in social innovation and co-founder of Designmatters at ArtCenter, the first design institution to be affiliated as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with the United Nations.

Tim Schwartz is a technologist, activist, and artist who makes works of art focused on technology, information, privacy, and how our culture absorbs changes in these areas.

Rosten Woo is a designer, writer, and educator who produces civic-scale artworks and works as a collaborator and consultant to a variety of grassroots and non-profit organizations.
