We are pleased to announce two students have been awarded Designmatters Fellowships for the Spring 2016 Term. Brittany Banayan and Habin Koh join ArtCenter’s distinguished group of Designmatters Fellows who receive a generous scholarship to be embedded in an organization for one academic term, contributing their creative expertise and talent to strategic social innovation design projects.
Brittany Banayan (Graphic Design) has been awarded the Designmatters Fellowship position with the City of Long Beach Innovation Team (iTeam), supported by a grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. Brittany is the third Designmatters Fellow to work with the iTeam, and will continue to build on the work of those Fellows to bring innovation solutions to issues of economic development for the people who live, work and play in the City of Long Beach.
“I am incredibly excited to be working with the City of Long Beach Innovation Team. I am especially eager to collaborate in an intricate design research process with a multi-disciplinary team to implement innovative policy solutions and achieve meaningful impact.”
Habin Koh (Graphic Design) has been awarded the Designmatters Fellowship with Women Deliver in New York City, a leading, global advocate for girls’ and women’s health, rights and wellbeing. Habin will be designing a visual identity for a new campaign for Women Deliver around the role of women in the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals. Habin’s work will be implemented and will play a key role at the Women Deliver Global Conference in Copenhagen in May.
“The most exciting part of being a designer is that I can give life to an idea. I am very excited for the Designmatters Fellowship opportunity at Women Deliver since I will be working closely with a team of people who have a passion for making a better world. I am most excited to create a variety of collaterals for different platforms that will truly reach people. This unique experience will help me grow as an impactful designer.”
