In this short blog post, Art Center alumna Vivan Shih (Illustration ’13) shares her experience being a part of the Pasadena Public Library’s Inaugural “Love Our Authors” Event and showcasing her childrens book “Amos’ New Life.”
On February 22nd, the Pasadena Public Library hosted a “Love Our Authors” for an opportunity for the public to come meet and greet local authors. I attended this event to represent the Art Center, Designmatters booth at the event. The library cleared out the Great Hall for this event and made it a great atmosphere to mingle by inviting the Pasadena Symphony’s Random Acts of Music to perform. Every author or independent publishing house had a table for themselves to display and/or sell their books.
With our colorful, creative book covers and the only children books at the event, The Uncool books caught much attention from passerbys at the event. Not only did people love the artwork behind our books, but strongly appreciated the morals behind the stories as well.
Attending this event was a wonderful way to meet people and connect with the community, as well as introduce Designmatters to Pasadena locals that may or may not have heard bout Art Center. I was proud to represent Art Center as an alumni, and would love to participate in community events like this in the future!
