ArtCenter Students Win Big at the 2012 Core77 Design Awards

Designmatters Safe Agua Peru projects Balde a Balde and GiraDora  are both winners in the 2012 Core 77 Design Awards.  Four other ArtCenter projects were also honored with student awards from Core 77!

Balde a Balde (Spanish for “Bucket to Bucket”) designed by Kimberly Chow, is a portable faucet that delivers a flow of water from any container.

GiraDora, designed by Alex Cabunoc and Ji A You, is a human-powered washer and spin dryer, increases the efficiency and improves the experience of hand-washing clothes for women living without access to running water.

The Core 77 Design Awards celebrates the richness of the design profession and the brilliance of its practitioners.  There are 17 categories of entry that provide designers, researchers and writers a unique opportunity to communicate the intent, rigor and passion behind their efforts.
